Tibetan Prayer Flags

blue, white red, green, yellow-
each tattered and
fading.
the flags flap furiously
in the breeze, as if to say
"Listen.
Hear our prayers.
Prayers for peace and
freedom."
Not just for Tibet-
for all nations,
for all people.
I wonder if the owners,
of the blue house,
ever get the urge to take them
down
to give up in the face of so much
silence.
or do they cling to hpe,
tattered and fading
but still flapping in the breeze?
